Abbot Hall & The Museum of Lakeland Life
Home to the Ransome Room and the registered office of TARS
TARS has its registered office at the Abbot Hall Museum of Lakeland Life in Kendal, Cumbria. The venue was chosen because it houses a permanent Ransome
exhibit,
the contents of which were given to the Museum by Evgenia Ransome on
the death of her husband.
The Ransome Room has an extensive collection of memorabilia: his desk, typewriter and some of his many pipes; a selection of his favourite books; first editions of many of the foreign language translations of his own novels; and much more besides.
