Pigeon Post Bookmark

Produced to coincide with the celebrations to mark 70 years of the Carnegie Medal award

Carnegie bookmark.jpgA specially-produced bookmark, to tie in with this year's celebrations marking 70 years of the Carnegie Medal, was unveiled at the recent Literary Weekend.

The bookmark features Pigeon Post, the sixth book in Arthur Ransome's popular Swallows and Amazons series of books, and the inaugural winner of the Carnegie Medal award in 1937.

The Carnegie Medal award was set up by the Library Association in 1936 in memory of Andrew Carnegie (1835 - 1919), the Scottish-born industrialist and philanthropist, who set up over 2800 libraries across the English-speaking world.

The Carnegie Medal is awarded annually to an outstanding book for children and young people. Nowadays, it is awarded by children's librarians under the auspices of CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, and is designed to recognise excellence in the world of children's books.

The Pigeon Post bookmark is available for distribution to libraries, bookshops, museums, organisations and other places of interest with a Ransome connection.

If you are interested in getting hold of some of the leaflets for your organisation, then please send your contact details to TarsInfo.
