Pictures for a Report??
Hi! I'm doing a report in school on Swallows and Amazons, and I was wondering where I might find pictures of the "real" Wild Cat Island and other places. Also, I saw a picture of someof the hard-cover books that had drawings and had colored backgrounds. What color was Swallows and Amazons?????
Hi Deidre
Search for folder there are lots of pics there, also go to All things Ransome info and pictures.

Hello Deidre,
I am probably too late, but I do have a few pictures of Coniston, including some of members of my family landing on it from a Swallow-like boat?
Also e-mail Rob Boden (Outlaw editor) he has suitable pictures. His address is humyar@tiscali.co.uk

Hi Deirdre
At the risk of saying the obvious, I ought to point out that all the photos on the TARS website are copyright, so shouldn't be used without the various owners' permissions. This is most important with the black and white ones. These belong to Arthur Ransome's Literary Estate, so using them needs the Estate's permission. But also the "physical" originals of these photos are held by Leeds University, so making any copies of these also needs their permission.
If you can't get the phptos you need from the others, like Rob, then do let me know - I may have some, including those reproduced on the site here, and I'd be happy to send you copies for use in your school report.

Deirdre -
I'm happy to send you a CD of my various photos including Wild Cat and a replica campsite there. Or email me at humyar@tiscali.co.uk with some specifics and I'll email back any suitable photos.
Rob
Deirdre -
the best website to look at illustrations of covers of Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series is Robert Thompson's site:

You're not too late, I'm just getting a major head start! I don't know when the report is due, but I'm guessing sometime in February. I'll go see the pictures, and I'll probably put up a picture of my final report.
OK, I'll see what can dig out. My e-mail is j.hunwicks@btinternet.com
