Does anyone know how our fellow enthusiasts in Japan are surviving?

Probably AR is not in the forefront of their thoughts at the moment - but perhaps a message of commiseration to the AR Club of Japan would be appropriate.

I saw some comments on the Lakelandcam site from a Japanese AR enthusiast, presumably a AR Club member. I think he/she was concerned about a lake in the north of Japan that they go to which is similar to Coniston.

I'd certainly second that.  Better still, can we think of any small way in which we could lend some practical support?

I have had an e-mail from Mikako Tarashima of TARS and ARC.  She says:

"We Tarashimas Satoshi, Minato, Toko and I are fine.
ARC members living in Tokyo are all right. Small earthquakes have been still shaking every day, but they don't bother us now.
ARC members in Tohoku are also fine. Our Lake Hibarako is included in Fukushima prefecture where nuclear power plants are, but luckily located 100km away. The camp site was full of students who  took refuge from tsunami for a while."

Lake Hibarako is ARC's "Lake in the North". See pictures in "Ransome's Foreign Legion".

Life has been quite difficult with power shortages.

On the other hand, a new translation of SD came out in late March, so it's not all bad news.
