Semaphore font

Posted by David Bamford at 17:09 on Mon, Mar 09, 2009

Has anyone had any problems with installing the semaphore font on a Mac?  One of my junior 'parishioners' has not been able to make it work on her Mac.  It comes up as Times New Roman, which is almost a default font.  I understand that there are two semaphore fonts around; is one of them Mac-friendly and the other not?

David.

If you go to the "All things Ransome" downloads page, both fonts`are available with instructions for both Windows and Mac.  See:

I had this trouble when I tried to do it. For the alphabet you have to have caps lock on, other wise it just goes on to the next font in the list. Also try using the the keys like / . , ' ; # [ ] because they are quite good.

Are you including Mario Becroft's Semaphore1? I don't know whether this is usable on a Mac, but it might be worth trying. It is possibly the best semaphore font available...

sorry! you'll have to cut and paste it into the address bar, I can't see how to make it a live link.

The link works but says the site is no longer there.

Try cutting the link back a bit and then navigating to the Swallows and Amazons page.
