Book that might be of interest to Tars

Posted by Duncan Hall at 00:18 on Mon, Aug 23, 2010

Hi all,

Don't like to self-publicise on these forums, but I do think this will be of interest to some: I have just published a children's book: "Brambleholme Summer", set in the Yorkshire Dales and very much influenced by Ransome (entirely openly - the children in the book are all reading Swallows and Amazons books).

It is available <a href="http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/brambleholme-summer/12090371>here</a> (and should be on Amazon before very long) in a variety of formats.

Would be great to hear what some Tars thought of it!

Duncan

Hi - just to say your link doesn't seem to be working at present. Is this: http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fStoreID=1041163 the correct address?

Best wishes

Geraint

Hi - thanks Geraint!  That is the one!  I tried to do some fancy html thing which was clearly an error!

No problem, Duncan.

The easiest way to put a link in is probably to use the "external link" option at the top of the body text/editing toolbar. Highlight some relevant text in your message, then click on the round icon between the anchor and the chain symbols. A box should appear containing "http://..." All you need to do is enter the rest of your URL and click on "preview". It'll then show you your page as a check, before you OK it. Your highlighted text should then become the link to your page.

Apoligies if I'm telling you how to suck eggs, but it might be useful, and ist's usually simpler (and often more effective!) than trying to create the link using HTML.

Best wishes with the book

Geraint

Oh right!  I initially clicked on the other one but that's an internal link.  Got you.

So this is just a test...

The preview thing works very well!

I'd read it.  My mom thinks I should read something other than Swallows and Amazons. I will.

My mum always used to say the same thing to me, Deirdre.  I shouldn't worry about it too much (I now have a library full of books, but the Ransome ones are still my favourites!)  However, if you do decide to have a read of "Brambleholme Summer" perhaps you would review it on here or for The Outlaw?

Just a quick note to say this book is now available on Amazon.
