Midland and SW region invite you to join them for a Bring & Scoff lunch, then, to celebrate the centenary of Captain Scott's expedition to the South Pole (leaving from Cardiff), a performance of
A Father for my Son, starring Jenny Coverack
Lunch from 12.15, curtain up 2.30pm.
Adults £8 in advance (children free) includes interval tea and cake, (£10 on the door)
Having toured extensively
in the southwest, this enchanting play now comes to the Bristol area.
Exactly 100 years ago Robert Falcon Scott sailed with his second expedition to Antarctica in an attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole. He was accompanied as far as New Zealand by his wife Kathleen. He did not return, leaving Kathleen a widow with their young son Peter, who became the famous naturalist. Kathleen Scott lived her life as a free spirit. She ran off to Paris to train as an artist, was a talented sculptress, and a friend of Shaw, Barrie, Ibsen and Forster. She was possibly the second woman ever to fly.
The show was
adapted from Kathleen’s autobiography and diaries by Jenny Coverack and she
stars as Kathleen, the remarkable woman behind the Antarctic hero. Jenny has performed this play at many venues
in the southwest and it has received rave reviews and praise (see her website
for details).
We hope you can join us, and bring your friends too, for this special event.
