Bird lovers visit the lagoon, watch from the hides – avocets, terns, godwits & more

The south shore is a magnificent walk.

Spot the red squirrels among the pine trees. Go to the Visitor Centre.

It’s a ‘go as you please’ day. Collect a map from the NT office when you land.

If the wind is in the north, the TARS base-camp will be on the south shore, east of the Scout camp area.

If the wind is in the south, the camp will be on the beach on the opposite side of the Island from the ferry landing stage, marked ‘Steep steps’ on NT map, north east of the Pottery Pier. [The descent through the wood is not actually very steep at all]

At Peggy’s waterside base-camp, where she will be from 11.30 -2.30, TARS can parley and feast. Make new friends. Meet old friends. Bring your own picnic and drinking vessel – puncheon of ‘rum’ on tap.

                  No need to book
